What Is BscScan And How To Use It_

BscScan is a simple, user-friendly BNB Smart Chain block explorer that helps users track multiple activities for free.

BNB Smart Chain (BSC) is one of the largest blockchains based on its daily active users. It powers over 2,000 dApps and hosts more than 285K weekly active gamers. In addition, the number of unique addresses on BSC has increased from 100 million in October 2021 to over 450 million in May 2024.

The extensive data available on BscScan helps increase the adoption of BSC-based users, developers, and founders, which will help foster its ecosystem in the years to come.

This article will help you go through the major features of BscScan with a step-by-step guide on using various tools of this block explorer.

What Is BscScan?

Launched in 2020, BscScan is a major blockchain explorer for BNB Smart Chain (BSC). It allows users to check transactions, track wallet addresses, analyze gas fees, and more.

BscScan was developed by the well-experienced team behind the popular Ethereum block explorer Etherscan, headed by its founder and CEO, Matthew Tan. Both these blockchain explorers have simple layouts aimed at providing the crypto community with a user-friendly experience.

This BNB Smart Chain block explorer's website has a search bar that allows fast results for user queries like token details. The homepage also lists all major options on the top navigation bar for faster access, especially for new BSC ecosystem users.

Basic Features of BscScan

Transaction Tracking

You can use BscScan to track the transactions made on the BNB Smart Chain in near real-time. In addition to the successful BSC transactions, this block explorer provides a time series of pending transactions per minute chart to help you better understand the network congestion.

BscScan has a customizable option that helps to find the latest block and transactions with detailed data. You can also track the wallet address associated with the transactions along with the amount in BNB tokens.

Token Analysis

BscScan offers in-depth details on all listed BEP-20 tokens within a few clicks. You can easily find the token details by searching the token name or its contract address in the search bar of this block explorer.

You can use this feature to check details on the token’s total transfers, transaction data, etc., which can be exported in CSV format. Similar to Etherscan, this BNB Smart Chain block explorer also provides reputation statuses like ‘SPAM,’ ‘UNSAFE,’ and ‘SUSPICIOUS’ to protect BSC blockchain users.

NFT Tracking

BscScan has a section on its website’s navigation bar dedicated to NFTs on the BSC network. This section allows you to explore the top NFTs, the latest transfers, mint details, and more.

You can also type or paste the smart contract address of your favorite BSC-based NFT on BscScan’s search bar to gain extensive information on the historical transactions, including fees, contract source code, contract events, token analytics, etc.

Gas Price Monitoring

BscScan has a set-aside section called Gas Tracker to provide data on the BNB Smart Chain gas fee in gwei (1 ETH = 1,000,000,000 GWei).

This gas tracker updates every 15 seconds and provides the latest gas fee on the BSC blockchain along with a pending transaction pool graph to give users an idea of current network congestion.

The gas tracker also provides separate data on the fee charged for ‘Standard’, ‘Fast’, and ‘Rapid’ transaction speed on BSC. Along with the charge, the expected time range for each transaction is also mentioned to guide users in selecting an ideal speed for their transactional activities.

Wallet Analysis

You can use BscScan to explore Binance Smart Chain wallets and gain complete details since their creation. Here, you can get basic data such as BNB balance and token holdings, as well as a complete list of transactions and BEP-20 token transfers for a wallet address.

BscScan has a separate section that lists the details of NFT transfers using the method, token type, item details, sender’s and receiver's address, etc. This block explorers dashboard also mentions the first translation and latest transaction details to track the wallet activity.
